Gor Mahia FC arrived safely in Juba – South Sudan a head of their Champions League clash with El Mereik Bentiu.
The K’Ogalo playing unit and the technical bench left the country yesterday a board a Kenya Airways plane as the first batch of the delegation. The remaining batch of the traveling party will leave the country tomorrow to join the team in Juba.
The group which consisting of the club officials will be led by CEO Ray Oruo and the Operations manager Mr. Jolawi Obondo. The team’s title sponsor Sportpesa will also be on board tomorrow as they depart from JKIA by midday.
Notable absentee in this entourage is full back Rooney Onyango who had to be dropped at the last minute owing to matters that touch on his traveling documents. Onyango and midfielder Musa Masika are settling a matter that saw their travel to Italy for trials fail in fashion that seems was unprocedural.
In his place, Captain Philemon Otieno travelled and he is expected to lead the team to a win on Sunday. Without the usual striker Benson Omalla who has moved to Al Safa SC in Lebanon, and Ugandan Patrick Kaddu also unavailable, it’s time for the new Congolese signing Bandeka Momolia aka Ogolla Bandeko to step up and earn his place at the K’Ogalo hall of Fame.
The team will have two solid days to train in Juba, and also have a feel of the playing ground tomorrow a head of their show down on Sunday.
Fans in Juba are extatic and expectant! Some were busy painting their cars in Gor Mahia colours ( green and white) in readiness for this eccounter. Infact, a gala has been organized with full range of entrainment for the team on Sunday night after the match in Juba. Now, it’s upon the team’s leadership to accept or decline the invite, however, it’s a huge proof that K’Ogalo has a serious following across this region.
